The Sacral Chakra

An open Sacral Chakra enables balanced emotion and passionate sexuality. Feelings flow freely without attachment and are expressed with calm and presence rather than emotion and unbalance. Sacred and depth of intimacy and strong balanced passion are characteristics of the Sacral Chakra which is represented by the element water.
When your Sacral Chakra is open and balanced:
You have a tendency to be very friendly, and concerned for others. You have a life sense of belonging and you are intuitive and have clairvoyant tendencies that can be further developed. You have a great sense of humor and radiate warmth and compassion.
When your Sacral Chakra is open but unbalanced:
You tend to be emotionally explosive, overly ambitious, manipulative. You are probably caught up in beliefs and illusions. You may be overindulgent, and in your sexual energy you may see people as sex objects.
When your Sacral Chakra is closed:
You tend to be shy, timid, perhaps even immobilized by fear. You are overly sensitive, self negating, and often burdened by guilt. Your sexual energy is clinging and you feel guilty about having sex. You may even feel abused, be frigid or impotent.
Development of the Sacral Chakra:
Tantra practice and the study and practice of Reiki is prescriptive for general Chakra balancing and development. Specific development for the Root Chakra would include anything that supports confidence in ones own sexuality and relationship strength. Some of the more advanced Tantra techniques would be very efficient in the development of the Sacral Chakra. The Hindu perception viewed the life force energy as a snake coiled up in the base of the spine. As the Tantric practices aroused the body they visualized this snake uncoiling up the spinal cord and opening the Chakras. The unconditional love and depth of intimacy required for Tantric practice are great exercises to develop the Sacral Chakra once it is open.
